The Climate Change
Climate change and other environmental challenges are existential threats to Europe and the world. The European Green Deal will transform Europe into a modern, climate neutral continent and competitive economy empowered to tackle these challenges.
With the launch of Common European data spaces, the European data strategy aims to create a single market for data, where data can flow within the EU and across sectors, for the benefit of the citizens and the planet Earth.
Green Deal Data Space
The GREAT project, funded by the Digital Europe program, aims to establish the Green Deal Data Space Foundation and its Community of Practice which builds on both the European Green Deal and the EU’s Strategy for Data. The project will deliver a roadmap for implementing and deploying the Green Deal Data Space, an infrastructure that will allow data providers and initiatives to openly share their data to tackle climate change in a multidisciplinary manner.
The key pillars supporting the development of the roadmap:
Blueprint reference architecture.
Data governance framework in line with innovative business cases.
Inventory of high value datasets that will enable the monitoring of the European Union’s Green Deal policies.
Strong and cohesive Community of Practice representing all the stakeholders landscape that contribute, co-design and validate at all stages of the project.
Collaboration with Data Spaces
GREAT will strongly collaborate with the Data Space Support Centre and all other sectoral Data Spaces to ensure alignment and convergence of initiatives towards the Common European Data space.
